Position: Vice President Information Technology
ViewSonic had used an expensive, nationally known top-tier search firm to find somewhat disappointing senior-level executives. Since we had successfully recruited most of ViewSonic’s sales, marketing and customer service mid-level executives, the Director of HR convinced the CEO to hire AGISearch for the VP IT search. About two days into the search, the CEO’s right-hand man told me we had ten days to find the right candidate.
And we did it. The candidate was a perfect fit from a qualifications perspective but also from a cultural perspective, because he added much-needed diversity to the executive team.
He not only pulled together the client’s IT department and shored up its infrastructure, but he pulled together the executive team by hosting social events – something no one had done before. The team came to know one another on a more personal level and became more cohesive.

Position: General Manager Projectors
We had been searching for mid-level sales executives for ViewSonic’s fledgling projector line when we met an individual we knew would be ideal to lead the team. He had started his own projector company himself, in his early 20’s, using a personal credit line, and had just sold that business.
We made the introduction and assisted in the salary and relocation negotiations. Since we were working with ViewSonic on an hourly basis, this upper-level executive search cost ViewSonic less than $5,000 in recruiting fees.
The executive stayed with ViewSonic for many years, and helped then become a familiar name in the pro-AV and IT reseller space.
Success Story: Platform Computing
Position: Strategic Alliance Manager – Dell Account
Platform wanted an executive recruiter who knew the Austin market to secure a Business Development Executive who could grow their Dell business. They needed a search firm who understood how Dell operates and could easily navigate it for referrals.
We studied Platform to understand their unique position in the marketplace and sourced current alliance managers from software vendors who were reselling into Dell. We even called into the HPCC team within Dell to get their suggestions on who they might like to see in the position.
A referral from the HPCC group was eventually hired by Platform, and has been a catalyst for substantial growth in Platform’s grid computing solutions in the central US.

The WSB was originally attracted to AGISearch because of our experience placing product development executives. They were moving into a new line of business, setting up an e-learning initiative based on the lessons and ideas of their speakers.
We sourced every possible e-learning executive in the DC area, finally locating the ideal match after hours of sourcing and phoning people who developed e-learning products for adults.
